Name: Colette Roberts
Age: 37
Resident: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Occupation: Personal Trainer
Colette is originally from
Pennsylvania, but has lived in Florida for the past 20 years.
She has been involved in athletics since high school, as a competitive
runner of cross-country, and track and field. Today, you can
find her running a 5k or 10k race on any given weekend.
Colette has always loved
the challenges that come with competing. She is a very disciplined
and focused individual, both mentally and physically. When it
comes to preparing for something in life, she does whatever
it takes to be her best. Colette credits God
for giving her the strength and guidance to excel, and for blessing
her with a healthy life. She says, "By trusting God, and with
a lot of hard work, you can accomplish your dreams, as long
as you have one".
Colette owns "Fit For You",
a personal training business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She
loves training individuals to live active lifestyles, and helping
them understand the importance that goes beyond the physical
appearance.
Colette's journey in the
sport of women's obstacle course racing began in 2001. During
that year, she participated in both the Galaxy and Women's Tri
Fitness (WTF). To prepare for these events, she traveled every
weekend to Orlando, Florida, three hours each way, to practice.
It is there that she met Beth Patterson,
Tonia D'Anna, and Kristia Knowles,
who asked her to participate with them as a team at the WTF
World Challenge in Las Vegas in 2001. At this competition, they
won fist place in team relay, and Colette finished
fifth place overall in obstacle. These women continue to be
a great support for Colette, in addition to
being a great inspiration in her life. Colette says women's obstacle racing has taught
her a lot about inner strength, and is very proud to be a part
of the sport. As a competitor, she has met some of the greatest
people and most dedicated athletes.
Colette is respected as a very energetic and motivated individual.
She thanks Al Rosen of WTF for all of his positive
support and patience. She is also very proud to be a new member
of the ATX Team, coached by Dr. John Atherton.
