ATHLETE: Gina Oakes
HOME: Burlington, North Carolina
OCCUPATION: Marketing Executive and Model
AGE: 24

Gina Oakes is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a BSBA degree in Marketing. While in college, Gina was a USCSA collegiate ski racing champion along with a member of the Cheerleading Team which placed 8th at Nationals. In addition, she was a member of the Appalachian Dance Team. During her high school days, Gina was the Female Senior Athlete of the Year as she was a sprinter in track who went to the State Finals on two occasions.

Gina began fitness training because it combines her love for dance, cheerleading, gymnastics, track and field, and working out. She would love to pursue a career in fitness sports marketing, but she would also like to continue fitness and swimwear modeling. Gina has worked for companies such as VPX, Life Fitness and Stairmaster and has appeared in various fitness magazines such as Oxygen, Muscle Mag, Natural Muscle Magazine, Ironman, and Women's Fitness Magazine.

Gina has experienced a great deal of success at WTF Events. She won the Tri-Fitness Event at the WTF National Qualifier 2001; First place in the Fitness Routine and Second place in the Overall Tri-Fitness at the 2001 WTF World Challenge Las Vegas; First place in the Tri-Fitness Overall at the WTF Eastern Challenge Orlando.

In addition, Gina has won the ESPN 2 Series Fitness America and has participated in two FAP Nationals.

Although Gina has exercised induced asthma, she has put her mind to overcoming this as one of her obstacles. With the support of a loving family, Gina believes if you are willing to dream and believe, anything is possible.
