Melissa Lake lives in Clearwater, Florida and works for Executive Adventures planning corporate outings, client entertaining and special events. Her job has taken her around Florida, New York, fishing in the Bahamas and even allowed her to meet several celebrities!

Melissa credits Lindsey Browne and Renee Anderson, two fellow WTF athletes, for introducing her to the WTF. They encouraged her to try something new after she had been training for a year. Although never considering herself an athlete, Melissa has come along way. Coach Al Rosen has been very patient, first teaching her how to sprint! She recently competed in the Southeastern Challenge in Orlando and ran a 61.40 on the course. Thus, she placed 6th overall in the competition and1st in her age group. Melissa had previously competed at the Gasparilla Nationals in St. Petersburg and the South Beach Invitational in Miami Beach.

Melissa says, "I come from a family of five children and I was not the athletic one and I could never have imagined myself doing something like this. Now, I'm totally addicted to it! I love the people involved and the challenge. The girls are so supportive and positive and of course my Coach Al Rosen is the best!"

Melissa (or Moe as her WTF friends call her) looks forward to the 2003 season. One of her goals is to break the one-minute barrier on the course. In addition, she looks forward to traveling to California, Vegas and D.C as she continues to challenge herself and meet new friends.
