NAME: Nellie Cruz HOME: Los Angeles, California OCCUPATION: Human Resource Coordinator AGE: 34

Nellie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but grew up as a Navy child. After attending school in San Diego, she moved to Los Angeles with the hope of one day making it big. She currently is employed as the Executive Assistant and Human Resource Coordinator for Big League Dreams, a sports park company located in Riverside County. In addition, she is a personal trainer at Equinox Fitness Club in Pasadena.

In 1995, Nellie began her commitment to the fitness lifestyle. She became interested in bodybuilding and working out. After attending several types of fitness shows and reading magazines, Nellie decided it was time to try something herself.

The 2001 WTF World Challenge in Las Vegas was Nellie's first show and she had a fantastic time and met a lot of new friends. After her first show, Nellie was asked to do some local modeling. Next up was the Western Challenge in Orange County and Nellie was ready for the challenge. Her goals were to improve on all of her Las Vegas scores. This she accomplished. In addition, she placed 2rd in grace and physique, 2nd in obstacle course, 1st in fitness skills, and 2nd in Dual Fitness for her age/height group. In the Overall, she made top 10 in the Grace & Physique, Fitness Skills, and Dual Fitness Optional.

She is a member of Team California Flash. Nellie would like to express her thanks to Maggie White, a friend and mentor, for her support and love during her first year of competitions. In addition, she would like to thank Cynthia Hill and Steve Teran for helping her train for the 2002 World Challenge.

Nellie's goals are to continue competing in the WTF and to improve her scores and grow as an athlete. She hopes to encourage others through her commitment and dedication to health and fitness.
